That's pretty crazy looking, every fish I've caught didn't really have teeth... or at least none that stood out like that.

Yep, that's 100% a pacu. Very common in the pet trade. People buy them because they are "similar" to Piranha, and legal everywhere. The teeth are similar to molars because the fish feeds mainly on plants and it uses them to chew.

that fish needs some braces, and some serious dental work. I would love to have a fish with absolutely white perfectly straight teeth. It would be kind of creepy

i saw that on cnn headline news yesterday morning. they were trying to make it sound like some kind of freak of nature and it turns out to be a pacu someone had released. headline news yeah right.
