Fruiting Conditions

Im getting a syringe in a couple of days with tg spore prints in it. And each step seems clear to me accept the last stage...fruiting. Now I have already built an incubation system for PF Cakes to grow in the jars (which I found on this site)http://www.fungifun.org/English/Pftek Now the last stage (fruiting), I have least read about 100 different ways to do this. Some require casing, some dont. The one on the website above explain to get a container or buckket and layer the bottom with moisten Perlite or a wet paper towel and gently tap the PF cake out of the jar and onto the perlite (or paper towel) and cover it with transent plastic. And once a day uncover it and fan with a piece of cardboard (doesnt say for how long). And if the bottom layer of the PF cake gets dry, your suppose to spray it with water to keep it moist. Do this for a period of time and mature mushrooms should emerged within 7-14 days (or something like that). This seems easy and the route im probably going to take (beginner grower) but I've also read on how to make chambers, which seems to take a bit of time. What is the easiest way, or does this bucket theory work. It still gets moisture because the the plastic covering it and constent fanning with a piece of cardboard (How long by the way?). Im a beginner grower and this to me seems the easiest way...should I take the chance or is there another way that is easier?

Or you could do it the way your thinking too. As long as you keep it moist by spraying and keep fresh air in there by fanning for less than a minute a couple times a day you should be good to go. the saran wrap will keep the moisture in, but everytime you fan it you may loose some moisture, but then you just spray it again... Im also a newbie since im still on my first grow but i believe this is all correct.

Easy ghetto fruiting chamber: rubbermaid container, 3" moist perlite on the bottom, plexiglass for your lid (or cut a hole in the plastic lid and tape cling wrap over it). Optimal conditions for fruiting cakes: 75 degrees F, 100% humidity, 12 hours of any light other than direct sunlight per day, 3-4 fresh air exchanges (fan it for 20-25 seconds) per day. Do not sit a cake directly on perlite--it will wick up too much moisture. Use plastic or a canning lid wrapped in tin foil. Do not spray the cakes directly. For added moisture, apply a double-end casing to the cakes--moistened vermiculite on top and bottom of the cakes. After your first flush, dunk the cakes in clean water for 24 hours. Good luck.

Another thing that helps the cakes "fruit" is to have Bette Middler sings playing in the backround and a picture of a Richard Gere X-ray... Wait... Wrong fruit... -Me
