Chunky verm vs. Fine verm

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of the really experienced people had any opinions on using fine verm vs. chunky verm. Here's what I've noticed, when using jars w. chunky verm, the mycelum appears more healthy and fluffy white. When using fine verm it appears not as fluffy, kind of an off white color, and not near as healthy. It just looks like it's having to work harder or something. And when I say fine, I mean almost like sand. Thanks for the input, just something I've been wondering about!!!

I prefer the smooth stuff that comes with the peanut on top.

Thicker grade verm might provide a 'looser' cake, but it also does not hold its water content anywhere near as well as thinner grade verm. It also does not work as effectively as a ramsey seal. In short, thinner grade verm (grade 2) hold more moisture for longer, still provides enough air exchange and it colonises well. At the end of the day, its rhizomorphic mycelium
