it'll work, but colonization might be a little slower than the chunky-style.

you add more to the mix? That cant be a good thing. What do you do add more water also. The reason that it doesnt colinize faster is due to the fact that fine verm compacts more. Dont add more verm you will have problems just stick to the regular tek or go bye some course verm if you can get some and afford it and you will be better off. you will be safe with tap water cause you are waiting a week you will be able to tell if thier are any comtams or not

All I use is fine verm and it works very well. Course may do better but if fine is all you have then use it. As far as using more in the mix, That is a no no. dont change the ratio. 1/2 cup verm 1/4 cup BRF 1/4 cup water, for 1/2 pints. Fine verm will already add more verm to the mix then course, less air space in the cup meens more verm. If anything is to be changed, add a little less verm for fine but you really dont have to.

I use fine verm, and tap water. I barely clean my kitchen.
The more you worry about contams, the more you get. I think they know when you are thinking about them.
I have not seen 1 contam since I started growing again (took a year or so off).
