shrooms growing upside down on cake.. FLIP OVER?

hi, im a newbie shroom farmer and just noticed baby shroomies on my cakes today!  damn it felt good to see the results of something i did actually work out fine - well, almost fine.  there was a slight problem.  all the pins were on the bottom of the cake, most of them growing straight down thru the grill which the cakes sit on.  so i flipped them over.  was that a good idea?
another question, when i flipped the cakes over, i noticed they were pretty dry on the outside, is this normal?  i keep RH well above 90%, and the temps from 75-79F.  thanks in advance for your input :smile:

flipping the cake over is ok.

If you think the cake is a little dry.....get a syringe....put 10 cc of water into it.
Inject the water into the cake in several places....ala Voodoo Tek.
This works really good.... I swear by it.

My friend has some Koh Samui cakes once. After dunking he noticed more pins on the bottom, so he flipped them over and got a nice flush!!!

Flipping a cake that pins from the bottom is a good thing if done early. It allows you to get more shrooms (in my experience).
Next time I'll fruit a cake, I'll try to inject water. Thanx for the tip Road !

Make shure that water is very sterile, since its gonna be impossible to check the insides of your cakes for contams.....Why dont you people dunk? I think its safer....

Interesting, very very ineresting...I noticed that on my cakes too. So, after you
see the pins and determine that there's more on the flip-side you flip? I'll try it.
Injecting cakes? Hmmn. I like it. I have no use for it at the moment but that's probably gonna change.

thanks for all the help.  where can i get detailed info on this water injection (voodoo tek??)  and the dunking technique?  i wanna make sure i dont mess this up, they look like they're gonna turn out very good for my first attempt :smile:  im currently colonizing more jars to try casing next with the 50/50+ tek

how does one go about dunking? ive read some people use milk, and some use h2o2 + h2o. which works better (for b+ cubes) and why? how would one sterilize milk?
