Phred why do you (seem to) enjoy parading around the "Right vs. Left" bullshit? Are you not more interested in finding common ground, rather than just bashing "the other side"? I consider myself a Liberal or, at least, on the "Left" of the political spectrum...and while I would like to have a lot of respect for you, that's kind of hard to do when half the posts I see from you seem to exist solely to bash the "loonie lefties".

I certainly don't agree politically with most people who identify themselves as Right, or Republican, or whatever....but I fully accept their choice in the matter and I'm not going to get petty and call them names just because I don't agree with them. Why do you feel the need to do so?

Compromise is where it's at, if you ask me.

Holy over-reaction, Batman!

Look, all I did was post a link to an interview at Jambands.com with a famous Deadhead. I didn't title the article, Jambands.com did. I was too lazy to think of a different title for the thread so I just used the one Jambands.com used. For this I'm given grief?

If you'd read the article you'd know there are maybe three sentences in the entire lengthy interview having anything at all to do with politics. The rest of the article is nothing more than the reminiscences of a Deadhead.

Lighten up, dude.

yeah..ann coulter never did any drugs during the 67 shows she saw yet according to the descriptions she gave of her experiances at dead shows she can barely remember anything about it except that it was "awesome". she's a liar and hypocrite, just like rush.

she's also either completely insane or she's just a fraudulent merchant of shock value. i think anyone who takes her seriously has a couple screws loose.

it'd be funny if on her death bed she came out and admitted she loved acid and free love and really loathed conservatives and only wrote her books to get rich and confuse conservatives.

I'm not in a position to agree with her or disagree with her, since I've never been to Dead concert and have therefore met no Deadheads in real life. Or at least none I know of. For all I know Deadheads are not what Liberals claim to be (but aren't).

It's the hand of an Iraqi woman who had just voted in Iraq's first free election -- the one which chose the members of the first Iraqi parliament charged with producing the Iraqi consitution.

The purple dye is the precaution the Iraq election committee uses to prevent people from voting twice. In order to receive a ballot, the voter must dip his/her index finger in indelible purple dye. I'm not sure what part of their anatomy those who had fingers amputated by Hussein's thugs use in lieu of an index finger, though.

In the days after the election, Iraqis were proudly waving their fingers in the air at every opportunity to prove they had voted.

So you didn't read the interview either. Didn't think so. If you had you would have realized there is almost no discussion of politics. It's merely the reminiscences of a Dead fan -- albeit a fairly famous Dead fan.

Though I rarely post in The Pub, I do know there are many Dead fans who do. I therefore thought the interview was appropriate Pub material. Guess not. *shrugs*

I thought the article was amusing, it showed a very human side of a celebrity that I previously thought of as being a soulless bitch.
