Backing up DVDs with Mac OS X

OK so I have a Mac (OS X 10.4.6) with a SuperDrive and I just got some quality Verbatim DatalifePlus DVD+R's from Newegg.  I want to make DVD movie backups as easily and painlessly as possible.  I understand there are a lot of variables that come into play, i.e. copyright protection technology, encryption, "dummy" cells, etc. etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to go about this venture?  I have Toast Titanium already and am looking for anything else that comes in handy and is easy to use with OS X.  All the guides and how-to's I've found on the net pertain to PCs, and I don't have a DVD burner on my PC.

One of my buddies that works for Apple said he uses handbrake. If you go to versiontracker.com there is a lot of software for macs and I'm pretty sure you can get it there. I haven't used it so if you try it and it works, a post about it would be great.
