pressure cooker damaged - still work?
    #5804359 - 06/29/06 07:13 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

a foaf just got a mirro pressure cooker in the mail with the jiggling gauge. the peg that the jiggler goes on is slightly bent to the side from shipping damage. he is about to test it with some water to see if it steams, but is wondering if anyone knows if it will still work fine?

he'll know somewhat of if it works by testing it, but he will not know if the bent peg will change the accuracy of the psi gauge (ie set on 15 psi it actually is 12 psi because of being bent) or any other issues.

any ideas? if need be i can get some pics from him to post. thanks!

if the jiggling gauge is the steam release (like on mine - Presto) then i would not use it if bent...it could prevent steam from escaping and explode your PC.

damn he just tested it by leaving the lid unlatched and pressing it down to cause pressure, but no steam came out of the hole even without the weight on, it waited to come out when he let the lid go up. he swears the world doesnt want him to grow fungi!
