pressure cooker help

ok im using a pressure cooker for the first time to steralize but the problem im having is that im not sure how to use it.....laugh at me please

well anyway i got a presto pressure cooker looks like a pot that locks with a grating inside....of course

the problem im having is when i heard all this talk about keep the psi at 15 i thought their would be a control for it or atleast a nob or gauge...their is neither and i don't know how to change the pressure...

their is a little nub on the top of the pot in the center where it looks like something should go however i think it was just the little handle to lift the top off..

well i know i fill the water in a little way up the jar but then what...what heat do i keep it on and how do i change the psi and what percautions are their?

If you bought it new then it should have came with instructions.

Does it have a pressure guage. If so bring it up to the correct pressure then stabalize the heat so it stays at that pressure.

I'll post one like this then. Use fire. Heat pressure cooker. Then Watch it explode. Make sure you stand close.

i found the answer cause i finally found the presto sight thanks anyway though

so are you supposed to move the pressure regulator after the 5 hour cooling period is up or right after your done cooking, im pretty sure its after 5 hours

also in the pressure cooker even though i have four tiny holes in the jars do i want the lids to be as tight as possible or a little loose

a good way to get some serious help in this forum is to be a complete asshole. I hear that the moderators and admins really love it when you FLAME someone for just asking honest questions. Keep on goin with that attitude!

you know what? He probably ASKED that question because its been ASKED by NEWBIES like you hundreds of times. It was a simple question, asking for a simple answer. There's at least one or two posts a month about how to use a pressure cooker. Simple answer. GET DIRECTIONS somehow! Each pressure cooker is different. Unless you give us specific information/model number and maybe a pic, or more valuble information, we could probably help.

see, all pressure cookers are used in similar ways, but unless you have directions, i wouldn't reccoment using it.

Good luck. Next time try to be a little more patient. Most times the answer to your question is answered quite easily.
