Filtered pay channels for Cable Tv
    #5777639 - 06/21/06 07:10 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I was wondering if there is a box that you can get to just get the pay channels that the cable tv company has blocked for you.

Not every one that is offered with digital cable, but the one's that you can hear perfectly fine but the picture has a line blocking the picture side??

I think it might be HBO, haven't sat down and listened to much of it. all i can find on searches are satelite boxes.

actually i hitch hiked a ride from a comcast installer the other day north of detroit, and i can tell you how to get most of the channels free

heres what you do, find the connection for the cable to your house... it will probably be runing off of a power line post on your street. or it might be elsewhere, like a box coming out of the ground outside yoru house.

When you find it take a good look at it, your coaxial cable will be connected to an extension or sorts, that plugs directly into the main cable line. This is called the filter,

according to cable guy, all you have to do is take that off, and you get everything.

but dont mess around on the power lines if you dont know the difference between a cable coax cable and whatever the hell else is up there, i.e. probably not safe or recomended.

step 1: open up cable box (this is illegal)
step 2: find the wire going to your apartment, it will be labeled.
step 3: look for the metal filter, looks like a coupler
step 4: remove the filter, connect cable again.

thats it!

optional step 5: drill a hole through the center of the filter, making a hole big enough to slip the wire through. then you can put this back on, and if prying eyes take a look, everything will appear to be in order.

i dont think so,

while i was living in my friends house, i paid for their cable to be hooked back up so i could get the internet and cnn again, lol.

anyhow the cable guy was all done and realised that he left the expanded basic filter on instead of the basic filter and said he would need to go back up the ladder to fix that.

So i told him that i would pay him $20 not to go back up there. he didnt, and they are only being billed for basic, while getting expanded basic.

Not that I am aware of. However, if you look at the lines, you will usually see a plastic tag hanging from the line near the pole. Notice that the color of the tags is different on the lines with a filter and the lines without a filter? I'm sure you can figure out the rest... (I'm not sure if this system is universal, but it is what they have used everywhere I have lived...)

they used to have set top boxes for that, but i havnt seen them in years because most of the cable companys have moved all of the pay channels to the digital bands if they have them, and as of yet there is no way to cheat the digital boxes

Yeah..I have charter cable and it's with a box. Bad part is, our box is fried. I haven't paid the bill yet and they won't give me a new one until I do.

I heard from my friend that exact thing. I haven't been able to find the cable box in my apartment though.

i got a buddy who use'd to be in the bussiness...

I pay for cable internet to my house (not appt).
He has hooked me up to free cable (Basic and Classic) Like 72 free channels, but i still can't get the blurred ones...  I can hear the sound fine, therefore it has to be comming into my house, but how do i unscramble it?

Btw... just for refference, you require a special tool to take the filter off the pole. Shit, i even had to rent a bigass ladder, BUT WELL WORTH IT!

not that i'm greedy or anything but, I WANT MORE! muhahahah.....  :christmas:

A lot of times they place a metal jacket around one end of the filter. This makes is so that you cannot get at the coax end to unscrew it from the filter on one end. Pretty easy to defeat with tools. I have also seen filters that used different sized coax connectors on both ends so that the filter could not simply be removed from the system.

that box seems pretty cool... I have something like that sitting around. (haven't tried it)

My friend gave me this box and said the cable company fried it.... kinda like they do satelite dish cards.

The one in the link says it's bulletproof... to cable's bullets??!?

i think this is what they are trying to say "It won't fry"
