contam question?

Hi! someone i know started 12 half-pint jars with BRF/Vermiculite substrate and he gots some questions...

well, two of the 12 jars started growth but in the center of the mycellium are dark black spots, about the size of pencil eraser heads and smaller. They dont look like they've grown and they also look like it could be vermiculite. Would anyone know???

Also, this person also accidently made his batch of substrate really weight. All the jars look sloppy and a grayish brown color. Could that be contam or just too wet of a substrate? Will wet substrate have an affect on colonization time???

Regardless of Contams or not you would want to start over.

Mycelium just won't colonize substrate that is too wet and it will take FOREVER to colonize.
