Stupid Question, 1/2 pint jars

Ok call me stupid, but I have a problem. After looking at some of the pics on the forum, I've noticed that my "half-pint" jars seem to be twice as tall as other on the forum. The ones I'm using are Ball, 12 Regular Tapered Half-Pint Jars. Are these taller cakes going to cause a problem. As my first 5 jars are sterelizing as we speak. I plan on using a perlitie/water mixture, with the cakes places on the lids. Just wondering if this is going to cause a problem.

Maybe your confusing 1/2 pints with full pints or vice versa, or vera vice?

You got the Tall 1/2 pint jars.....those are fine.

I use the tall and the short/wide 1/2 pints.

Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. LOL. There are two different kinds of half pints. Regular and wide mouth. Maybe that's why they look different to you? I use Ball wide mouth pints and half pints.

The tall 1/2 pints are fine.

Look at it this way. You can put more substrate in them than the wide mouths because of the dimensions. For the same depth of dry vermiculite you need less for the narrow mouths.

But these may take slightly longer to colonize also.
