Mold/Storing... Please help.

I recently bought a quarter ounce of mushrooms (species unknown); they are dried, and I was wondering what is the best ay to keep them for 3 weeks? Is the sock drawer safe? Also, I was looking at them today and I noticed what appeared to be mold, but I'm not sure. The species is white and brownish yellow, and some of the stems have a sort of greenish brown substance on them. Is this normal? You can probably tell I'm not very experienced... But I've heard that mold is the cause of many mushroom related deaths.

well, I keep dried mushrooms for over months, and I've read about ppl that kept them for years without any problems. So I guess it's not really a problem when they are dried properly. Storing in a cold and dark environment could be better, also to stop psilocybin and psilocin from breaking down.

About that greenish/brown substance, I wouldn't know... never seen someting like that on any of my mushrooms so be carefull with it. Perhaps somebody else can tell you more.

you possibly could be mistaking bruising for mold. most psilocybes bruise blue when damaged and/or dried.

Sock drawer should be fine for a few weeks. No mold will grow just as long as they are reasonably dry. There would only be mold if it was too humid. If that's the case, get a dessicant sack out of a bottle of vitamins and stick it in with the bag. Mold isn't the cause of many mushroom related deaths either. Death from the injestion of shrooms(or mold on shrooms) is rare.
