Growing enviroment

Question regarding suitable enviroments for mushroom cultivation; i was curious as to if attic space would work? It is all wood and is in need of some minor cleaning, but other than that would it be suitable? I was thinking of possibly making a large glove-box like area for my terrarium to conquer two birds with one stone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

quack,
the big problem with your attic is probably going to be heat. my attic heats up to 120 deg F during the summer. had you embarked on this operation some 6 months ago, i'd say sure, go ahead. but since spring and summer are rapidly approaching, your glovebox/terrarium setup isn't going to be ideal for long. you need something that's cool so that you your only challenge is warming things up. cooling stuff off is a lot harder in this universe we find ourselves in.
good luck,

Whats the temp in your attic...i think that the temperature is your first concern...where I live in the summer it gets hot as fuck in an attic and its a very very dry heat. As far as sterility goes if you are working with cakes and they are fully colonized before birthing you shouldnt run into much of a problem..building a glovebox type area wouldnt be a bad idea though..

Well the attic is actualy more of a small loft (it is in a small shed). I had also thought about temperature, but during even the hottest days of summer I'm estimating that it does not reach over 90 (not the best conditions, but as i have noted it is not hot enough to kill the mushrooms or psilocybin in them.) The shed is in a well shaded area and is relativly small.
About the glove-box; you said this was a good idea- do you have any suggestions? i have not actualy seen many terrariums with artificial-sterility enviroments built around them. i was thinking some thick plastic lining walling the terrarium in, and some sort of access holes. please expand

Well I dont know if you really will need to build a glove box around your terrarium...how filthy is the place? If you are only going to be working with cakes I wouldnt be all that concerned.....once a cake is fully colonized the chances of it being contaminated decrease greatly. The mycellium has already formed a good network and its hard for contams to set in.
