Is potency lost when they stain blue/green?
    #572007 - 03/06/02 10:45 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

Situation: There are many blue/green areas on a batch of dried mushrooms.

...Any potency lost?

bruising is a form of oxidation.
but prolly not enough potentcy loss that you could tell.

Blue bruising means that some psilocin has been broken down, but if these shrooms are dried, they have already lost most/all of their psilocin content anyway. Thus it's no big deal.

Air drying mushrooms doesn't mean you lose "most/all" psilocin. Actually, you lose very little psilocin when shrooms are dried. Darkening of the tissue indicates oxidation. If you dry your mushrooms correctly, they shouldn't darken at all, and thus they've lost minimal psilocin.
