Questions about perlite use

I have a few questoins about using perlite. I am using a large aquarium and i have read on several of the posts here that one of the easiest ways to keep a taranium going well is the use of perlite, i went out and bought a bag and followed the instructions of wetting and draining the water and putting an inch deep layer in bottem. I Put my 5 PF jars in(all grown using basic PF TEK) and a casing my friend did with some of his jars of Maz. A day later i check the terranium and the perlite was dry with little condensation on the walls. Is there anything else i can do to make things tip top without spending a ton of money or time setting things up. Much thanks and respect to all those who grow and post on these boards, helps more then you know, Take it easy all those who read

i'd probably use about 2 inches of perlit myself for this setup, though it seems that your problem lies herewithen, from what you've written you only have damp perlite in your terrerium, with an inch of perlite try say a half inch of standing water in the bottem of this perlite layer at all times. This seems to be your problem, so hurry up and get some water in there, you don't need your substrate drying out.

i dont think standing water is needed .....humidity easily gets up to 98% just by wet perl.

As i said in the first post, I have one casing consisting of 4 maz jars on wet verm. and more verm on top, there are no signs of mycelium growth on the top layer, should i keep waiting to put it into the terranium untill i see some signs or just put it in now? Once again much thanks to all members, thanks alot roadz, helped out alot, take it easy all who read

I hope the verm isn't too wet. You should wait til you see the mycellium breaking through the top casing layer.
