Seriously, how good are the White Sox?

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a lifelong Cubs fan and really generally despise the White Sox. I am in no way jumping ship or jumping on the bandwagon, even though the Cubs are probably the worst team in baseball.

But the white sox are really really good. They have 5 guys who would have been No. 1 starters on their previous clubs. They have the best bench in baseball. They have the best coaching staff in baseball. They even have, by all accounts, the best farm system and prospects in baseball. Its just crazy how a team that doesnt spend a shit-ton of money has accumulated so much awesome talent, almost totally under the radar.

I've been watching baseball since I was old enough to really understand it, and was going to games before then, and the White Sox are honestly the best team I've ever seen. The Yankees back when they were winning championships didnt have pitching like this. Even compared to last years White Sox, this team is leaps and bounds better. They won alot of one and two run games last year, but this year, its all blowouts. 9-0, 11-2, etc. This series against the Cubs has been painful to watch. They've KILLED us. It hasnt even been close. If I was Michael Barret, I would have slugged myself. Or Jim Hendry for assembling this fucking mess.

So yeah, Mea Culpa. The Fucking White Sox Are Awesome.

Haha, yeah they have a really good shot at repeating if everyone can stay healthy. Contreras comes back from the DL today against the Cubs, so hopefully he will be as good as he was when he went on the DL. Garland and Buehrle have had slow starts, but both of them have been pitching a bit better. Buehrle has thrown something like 15 scoreless innings in a row since giving up 7 runs in the first inning against Minnesota last Sunday.

I think that our weakness is our bullpen. Politte hasn't been nearly as good as he was last year. Logan and Thorton have not impressed me yet. Both of them ahave given up some runs in key situations, but hell as late as our starters go into the game we only really need a couple of really good relievers like Cotts and Jenks.

We've got the best 3-4-5 hitters in the league.Our number 2 hitter has scored more runs than anyone in the AL. He also has 8 three hit games which leads everyone. The defense is amazing. I know they had the best fielding percentage in the league, but I'm not sure if they still do or not. Our worst fielder is our catcher probably. Most teams have at least 1 guy that they stick out there just because he can hit *cough*MannyRamirez*cough*, but the White Sox don't have that.

And yeah, they have been murdering the Cubs, but so has everyone really. They just really went to shit when D Lee went down. I went to the game last Sunday against the Padres and they looked awful, got beat 9-0. That rookie that pitched yesterday pitched at the game that I was at. He walked a ton of people in that game also.

I bet Barret gets drilled today if he is in the lineup.

Well, so far they're not as good as the Tigers... The next couple of series are gonna be very important. Detroit plays Cleveland, the Yanks, Red Sox and then the White Sox. The Sox play Toronto, Cleveland and Texas before they meet Detroit - a slightly easier schedule for the Sox I think. Anything can happen.

detoroit is playing good right now.. but the white sox have a far superior team overall.. which is why i look for detroit to start to cool down and the sox to take over 1st in the central within the next 2weeks or so

the only hole the sox really have right now is center field.. mackowiak has filled in pretty good for anderson whos sucking balls at the plate. but he cant play there permanantly..

even though theres a mad amount of baseball left to play.. im picking whitesox/cardnials world series

You know, the White Sox did outscore the Tigers 22-6 in the 3 games that they played this year in Detroit. That includes a 13-0 blow out victory.

Those games that the tigers were blown out were also ealy in the season before it all started to come together for them. Its our turn to sweep the sox.
