You're right.

I had to go back and check the schedule.

The White Sox had the single make-up game with Detroit the day before the one-game playoff with the Twins.

If they hadn't beat Detroit, the Twins game wouldn't have needed to be played.

I have been on the edge of my seat, and I have no emotional investment other than I'd rather the Twins win 'cause I think they have a better shot at the Yanks.

I'd rather see the Twins, myself, because I think they have less of a shot.  Aside from that, this is no genius game.  Rayburn turned a single into a triple for the tie and then the idiot on third dancing off the base until the last second turned a win into a DP.  Why he didn't go back as soon as the ball was hit is a mystery on par with "What do women want?"

I think the Twins have a shot, more than the Tigers anyway, because they're hot.

That means so much in baseball.

Much more than in any other sport.

I don't think the talent difference between the Tigers and Twins is great enough to offset that.

Yeah I would rather the Tigers had stumbled in, but I'll also be happy not to have to face Verlander. Throwing to Mauer not gonna be fun though.

Although it is certainly true that the Twinks had a pretty successful last month it is also true that they played against really shitty teams the whole time.  Except for Detroit, who they beat 5 out of 8 games down the stretch, every other team had a losing record.  All of them, for a stellar (including Detroit) win percentage of 0.457.  Color me unimpressed.

I am very glad indeed that the Yanks will face the Twink pitchers and not the Tigers.
