Fuck the NL West, the AL Central is getting real interesting

Tigers getting killed, Twins fairly well up.  Oh yeah.  As a Yankee fan I have no problem whatsoever with these pitchers not being in the playoffs:

Felix Hernandez
Zack Greinke
Justin Verlander

There is not one other pitcher in the AL to fear

Ideally I hope the Twins and Tigers end up tied when play ends Sunday and have to have a one-game playoff Monday that the Twins win, burning their best starter in the process.

It's even better.  They can't play Monday.  The Twins have homefield and the Vikes are playing home Monday night.  They either switch the game to Detroit, against the rules, or wait until Tuesday.  Bwahahahahaha.

Tigers up 5-3, White Sox with one last chance to spoil it for them in the top of the 9th likely against Fernando Rodney.

Twins up 7-1, Pavano cruising along for them, hilariously enough.

Hope both teams win and have to do the one game playoff on Tuesday, and I hope the Tigers win that matchup. I think Verlander is spent and I think they'd be easier to crush.

Actually it was the Twins/White Sox last year. John Danks threw a gem and Thome hit a solo shot in a 1-0 Sox victory. If you remember correctly, the Tigers finished behind Kansas City last year.

You're right.

I had to go back and check the schedule.

The White Sox had the single make-up game with Detroit the day before the one-game playoff with the Twins.

If they hadn't beat Detroit, the Twins game wouldn't have needed to be played.

I'd rather see the Twins, myself, because I think they have less of a shot.  Aside from that, this is no genius game.  Rayburn turned a single into a triple for the tie and then the idiot on third dancing off the base until the last second turned a win into a DP.  Why he didn't go back as soon as the ball was hit is a mystery on par with "What do women want?"

I think the Twins have a shot, more than the Tigers anyway, because they're hot.

That means so much in baseball.

Much more than in any other sport.

I don't think the talent difference between the Tigers and Twins is great enough to offset that.

Although it is certainly true that the Twinks had a pretty successful last month it is also true that they played against really shitty teams the whole time.  Except for Detroit, who they beat 5 out of 8 games down the stretch, every other team had a losing record.  All of them, for a stellar (including Detroit) win percentage of 0.457.  Color me unimpressed.

I am very glad indeed that the Yanks will face the Twink pitchers and not the Tigers.
