I like to lay on my back when I meditate. I go out like a light. But if I try to just nap I can't fall asleep.

Granted I have only done it once, but I feel like it's a very powerful tool, but will take more discipline that I may possess? Perhaps this is an obstacle I need to overcome in meditation?

Meditation is not a tool, it is life. The only obstacle in meditation is your self.

I suggest high dose shrooms or LSD. You can save yourself years of effort. Drugs are instant enlightenment. Really!

Coincidentally I will be trying LSD in the near time future (couple months).

Also, I have experienced ego death once so far on shrooms. Unpleasant beauty it was.

So it's not possible to live without meditation?

Too literal. It's like the difference between going through life like a robot and going through life truly living and breathing, awake and aware.
