Why does everything seem better with Linux?
    #5606767 -

hehe... switched to Ubuntu the other day and just now starting to really play around with it.

Very impressive so far.

Why does everything just seem better than my windows machine? Programs run smooth, no hanging or lagging, customizable everything.... hell even the screensavers bring me joy!

But seriously, whats the catch?

In reality, am i safer online with linux/firefox? Should i have proxy and such going? Firewall? Are there virii?

Well time to bring some work home and really put this puppy to the test. openoffice, here i come!

If you are new to linux I highly sugest you firewall youself off COMPLETELY. Nothing is worse then a noob getting his box root kitted and used as a DDOS tool or hack point.

And not everything is bettert in linux. Lots of games are =[ in linux

(p.s. Gentoo > * )

The only bad thing I found with Ubuntu was it was insanely difficult to get my wireless card working right..

I keep XP on a partition to play games, otherwise..

Because the programs are made to work for YOU, the user. No sneaking in spyware, no banners, no disabled features or nagging you to register, no profit motive.

That's one of many reasons, anyway.
