Alien substrate questions

Anybody who's tried this substrate, could you tell me how it worked out? I assume that the formula given produces enough substrate for 12 half-pint jars, is that right? Has anybody tried this formula with bio-filter spawn bags? If so, how much would you need to prepare for three spawn bags?
