Silent hill! was bad ass
    #5572667 -

I just saw it and it was sweet. Wasn't scary enough but well my GF was terrified the whole time. But I was like what? Not scary enough but it was bad ass how they incorporated the style of the game and used the same old music in it to. Totally a movie for the silent hill fans! Which I am so I loved it!

"James honey..did something happen? After we got seperated in that long hallway.." :tongue2:

Does the movie follow the events of the games? If so, which one(s)?

I want to see it but I don't like overly gorey stuff like rob zombies work. I respect it as a gross/scarey art, but do not like to watch it.

I don't care all that much about the gore. Does it fuck with your head like the games? That's much more scary to me than seeing someone get hacked up.

Saw the movie on Friday. Despite the audiance beeing a bunch of dickwards (that is the LAST time I ever go see a movie on a Friday), I actually thought it wasnt that bad.

As far as video-game adapts go, its probably one of the best ones.
As far as 'general horror movies' go -- its medicore/OK. I've seen a few really terrible horror movies the past while, and this is better then the bad horrors I've seen.

The music in the movie was killer, I liked it alot. I also found that some of the effects were pretty cool also, and the movie for me was just 'creepy'. Didnt really scare me, but did creep me out at moments.

I've never played any of the silent hill games, but the friend I went with has played a few of them and said that the movie had parts from all of the silent hills in there.

Dont expect a horror masterpiece, but likewise - dont buy into the bad reviews that are calling it a steaming pile of crap.

I thought the movie was pretty bad.

I'm usually terrified of horror flicks, but I thought this was lame.  The gore wasn't all that impressive in my opinion, and the acting was fucking dismal.

Rob Zombie's movies IMO suck balls. They aren't well thought out at all and it's all just senseless gore and violence.

I agree, Silent Hill was sweet. It was everything I was hoping Resident Evil was going to be.

The plot was a little cut off at the begining but made up for it mid and end. Not as much of a head fuck as the games though. But the games are what 12-30 hours? Can't put as much detail into a movie. But still had a good plot.

I've never played Silent hill so I don't know what the game play is like, but sense I saw the movie I've wanted to play a game where every 5-60 mins the walls would peel off like shreds of skin and float away like ash and have to fight through a variable hell for five or so mins. Like a more elaborate GTA with one safe house and no vehicles. All the buildings would have to be elaboratly set up with no rooms being unvisitable although some doors should be locked. The only invisible walls will be those at the edge of the map, but that would just be a bottomless/topless cliff.

This is why I want to be a game designer, so I can make the shit I think of, and turn the next generation into a more lazy bunch then us.

I want to talk about the end!

Why did the dark one not open the door for them to leave? Was it just about leaving an obvious reason for a sequel or was there a real point to Rose being seperated from the rest of reality.

spoilers?

see i almost got the impression that they died in the car crash, because when her husband showed up they found her car.

it was like she was a ghost then. living in hell or something.

anyways there was a couple in the front row that left the theater about 30 mins into the movie maybe even not that long.

i thought it was an interesting movie, but the ending was kinda corny with the barbed wire....and it seemed to move very slowly...like it never reached a climax.

i also got the feeling that when she let them into the church (and into her body) that she let that demon thing out into the real world
