Possible Wheat Straw Substitute?

Ok.. Some Spaghetti that is (100% Organic Wheat) has been purchased. I was thinking of breaking it into 3-4 inch sticks and pasturizing for a short amount of time and then basically following the Straw Tek. Any Input/Suggestions on this? It seems like if Wheat straw was unattainable, then this would/should work??.. Thankx..

my guess is that they use 100% organic wheat flour and i would immagine that wheat flour is made from some part of the grain and not the straw

That could be... I'll have to take a closer look at it... Perhaps it could be cut in to "Rice" sized chunks and used the same way you would rye?....

IMHO I dont think Spaghetti would be a good substrate. If you have ever seen Spaghetti thats been left in a pan for an hour or so you would notice that it all sticks together and it is hard to get it apart. I am far from being an expert on the matter of experemental substrates but it would seem to me that Mycelium would have a hard time running though giant chunk of pasta... just my 2 cents

maybe try using it as you would BRF in the regular PFTEK .. grind it in a grinder .. but then you might as well go by wheat flour or rye flour from a store

spaghetti is FAR too rich in nutrients to be used like straw, you'll get contaminants all over the place

ok... Looking at it again... its 100% organic wheat. the spaghetti sticks are different colors the back says "No Nutrients, no perservitaves"... It is importated from Italy... I think I may try it for just shits and giggles for those of you who cant/are unable to purchase wheat straw... --peace..
