No, actually I'm too lazy to get into that smokescreen because it will not help our discussion one bit.

Directional beam? There's no telling what technology level these hypothetical aliens might posess.

How much energy is released if you lob a neutron star into a black hole? Or less elaborately, use the weapon Ravus is seeking (an implosion system generating a black hole) in the proximity of a neutron star. If you set several of these off in a logical pattern your range is billions of lightyears, not millions.

A directed beam is a waste because you're looking for new life you want to broad cast and that means cast it BROADLY, or in all directions. How many directions are there to direct a one light-hour wide beam in a sphere of millions of lightyears across?
You use directional beams once you found something thats not too far away.

SETI has nothing to do with sending signals our own...we can not know, if there will be found any possibilities so send signals faster then light in the future...
For other species in space, this COULD be allready possible.

(Even, I think, then, there will be more practical ways to send messages to human consciousness, ha)
