INVITRO grow.. when to expose to light.. inoculation or full colonization?
    #5509771 - 04/12/06 08:37 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

In a invitro grow should the PF jars be exposed to lighting once myc starts or around 80-90% colonized?

which way is faster from day of inoculation till day of harvest from within jar?

also they say 76 is ideal temp for invitro fruits... but is this after 80-85 of normal pf tek incubating?

also wouldnt introducing light so early cause pins to form before 100% colonizations?

just trying to clear things up
thanks

from the few jars i've done

cold shock is whats gonna get them to pin
wait till after colonized at 80 and drop to 75
it was always alot slower to fruit than birthing them

It seems like PF style jars are pretty foolproof. I don't really know how to answer your questions, but you really shouldn't worry too much about it. Make sure you use some sort of filter and tip them upside down when they are fruiting so that they can get the oxygen they need. If you make the jars right they will colonize fully and then fruit invitro with any amount of light and anywhere in those temperature ranges. I don't think the mid 70s temperature range that most people use to fruit with really has anything to do with the size or quality of the fruits. It seems like to me the warmer it is, the faster they grow. That being said... if it were me, I'd still just let them fruit at room temperature.

light from the start for invitro. pins may form when 60% colonised but by the time the fruits are mature and ready to harvest it should be 100%
