A few questions.

I'm a newbie and I need some help. I've read the MMGG and all, but I still have a few questions.

I was thinking of doing the Micron Magick Grain Culture with Quart Jars Method. But now i've seen people having better results with PF cakes and 50/50 casing mix. Which one is better for a newb?

I know one ingredient in 50/50 casing mix is vermiculite, but what is the second ingredient?

Does a casing need a drip sheild when it's in the terrarium, or is that only cakes?

So in a casing I start with 90% humidity, then when pinheads form, I move up to 95% humidity, right?

And do you still need to burn the end of a spore syringe that you order off the internet, for sterility?

hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Well first off, it's not as hard to grow mushrooms as you might think.

The 50/50 casing has a better chance of contamination than the PF casing does.
I can't remember what substance other than vermiculite is in the 50/50.

Um, I can't remember your other questions and I might not be of any help, but I thought I would try to help.

Theres lots of opinions about humidity out there..personally i let the humidity fluctuate between 85 an 90 for most of the growing period. No problems, but had i paid more attention i might have done better.

The drip sheild, the point of it is of course to keep excess water off your mycelium. It shouldnt be needed for a casng if you are spraying only occasionally with a fine mist.

Yeah flame your syringe..better safe than sorry.

Do the 5050 with brown rice. Its much more forgiving of contams, and will keep you from getting dissapointed if you lose your shit to contamination. Its a great primer, and lots of shrooms can be grown using it if you tweek your methods and are very observant and careful.

The other 50% in 5050 is peat. Be sure to sterilize.
