Question in regard to bird seed

I've mastered the the brown rice flour and vermiculite method and want to move on to bird seed as I've heard much better things in regard to its potential.
Just tonight I purchaced 5 five pound bags of seed at my local Miejer store. I wanted to get the millet or finch seed but it was like eight bucks for a five pound bag so I settled for "wild natural birdseed" which was substantially cheaper at only $2.79 per five pound bag.
The ingredients are as follows................
Millet
Milo
Sunflower Seed
cracked corn
Is this mix acceptable or do I need to strain it to get the sun flower seeds and corn kernals out?
The other question is in regards to steralization process for bird seed. If I'm not mistakin I believe I read that unlike BRF and vermiculite you could not achieve good results boiling instead pressure cooking. If there is anyway I can get away with it how long would I have to boil the jars to get the substrate sterile. If not I guess I'll have to sack up and just spend the money on the damb thing.
Thanks much, Hollywood

What my friand does with her birdseed is . 1 -take the sunflower seeds out , although she does not and no contams yet, but maybey you should , then she steeps the seeds by bringing water to a boil then turn heat on very low put in seeds let sit for 45 min to 60 min .She still uses the p.c for 60 min at 15 psi . She like to add in millit from organic food store and alot of it ,its like $2.50 a bag at most health food stores. Once she's steeped her birdseed millet mix , she likes to throw it into a large bowl and mixes with flax seed meal and brf and verm then loades jars and p.c.

Heres a little trick instead of picking through for the sunflower seeds. THEY FLOAT!!! Just start steeping, and remove them from the top of the water.

yep, they float. Another cool tip is to break the grains in the jar up with a phone book or something, My buddy uses a few pieces of rug.
He has a question though... He did his first birdseed awhile back and can't remember the date!!!
It looks fully colonized, how does he know if it's ready to case?

You will probably have a lot of contam problems without one. The alternative is to use H2O2 in the jar of steeped and COOLED birdseed. You MUST use an isolate or innoc with colonised honey water this way though.

You need a pressure cooker. I always picked the sunflower seeds out when I bought a brand of seed that contained them, but I don't really think it's necessary. I dunno about that though.
