oh yeah, and what does FAE stand for? I've heard it's good for reducing cobweb... now if I could only figure out what it stands for..... fresh air exchange is my best guess... (sorry I'm new here!)

You can get rid of cobweb with peroxide--it's the baby of contams. Either dunk the cakes with a little peroxide in the water, or mist them with water/peroxide. If you haven't birthed them, just dunk with a little peroxide in the water at birth.
Cutting out contams is risky and unnecessary with cobweb. But it might work.
Cobweb is not as harmful as many other molds, but I would not eat it--about like eating dust in your garage. It does spread like wildfire--if a casing is sharing the same air space as cobweb, it will be susceptible to contams.
And you're right--FAE (fresh air exchange)--mostly referring to cakes, casings, etc., in fruiting chamber that don't have an automated air exchange system. If you were using perlite in a storage box, you would want to fan it 3-5 times a day to get rid of the carbon dioxide buildup and supply fresh oxygen. GL.
