How could one tell if one has cobweb mold in one's jars... it seems it would be hard unless they're birthed... does it have an odour as well?

would riz growth continue dispite said mold?

It doesn't usually hit jars, but when it does, it appears as a "fog", starting atop your verm barrier. And cobweb looks grey, next to healthy mycelia.

Cobweb is easy to beat. Dissolve 2 tablespoons of baking soda in 1 quart of water, spray the mold. It might take 2 or 3 sprayings, spaced 1 day apart. Please do not mistake mycelia for cobweb. Every other newbie does. ;)

Thanks for the straight up answer puscle.. no sarcasm or anything! :p

I haven't seen sign of cobweb yet.. and really don't expect to.. but I fear it as it is one of the most difficult kind of contams to spot.. just being careful :)

You can also hold it at bay quite ok with regular boiling water. Mycellium reacts obviously to it aswell but it will grow back.
