Many people sell it online, with a simple search, and parafilm makes a new product for nursuries and gardeners, called grafting tape. Its 1" x 90', a perfect size for plates, and $3 a roll.

Not quite.

Parafilm is porous to gases, allowing cultures to breathe, while cling film does not, making it useful in a pinch, but not recommended.

Thanks for the pointer. I went to a couple of suppliers sites and couldn't find anything. The product you mention is right in my price range.
