Can someone IDENTIFY this mushroom.

Alright, well I was walking through the yard and found this mushroom. It is hollow inside, the stem is red, and it is very small. Didnt see any others near it, yes we have cows, but it was on the other side of the road a short distance away. Anyways, can someone tell me if this is dangerous? And if there is a way to test it as I dont want to get sick. Oh, and by the way, I live in north-central Texas. And it rained -briefly- may 10 - 20 minutes today. It was not growing on anything but non-cow-manured soil.

Need more pictures of it, just ask and give me the specifications.

Hey madpoetalhazred, welcome to the shroomery, some better pictures would be helpful in identifying your mushoom. One that shows the bottom side of the cap with some more light on it.
A good description of the mushroom will help also, how to, from the sticky on the top of the forum:
II. Accurate mushroom descriptions
It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.
A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable, but not required. Along with the pictures YOU ARE REQUIRED to provide the following data:
* Habitat (where [woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude] and what [soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?)] does it grow on) * Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc) * Characteristics of the stem (length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc) * Characteristics of the cap (diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc) * Spore print color (very important!) * Color that the mushroom bruises * Scent of the mushroom * Anything else you might find important
For more detailed guidelines for describing your finds, please view this document.
For an explanation of mycological terms please refer to this document .
thanks,
falcon

Habitat - Trees/pasture-ish area. Gills - If it has gills I do not see them, although, there is a mucky brown gunk in the cap. stem - About 3 inches, has lots of little pours, like coral for instance, hollow inside. Cap - The cap is somewhat thin, very small maybe an inch max, not much coloration other then brown, it is a hemisphere type shape. Spore print coloration - ???? What do you mean. Smell - It smells horrid, kind of like..Well I dont know, not like it is rotten but just a real odd stench.
When it bruises I will edit it. Tell me if I forgot to add something. >> I am not very good with mushrooms, as you can see.

If you cut the cap off and lay it stem side down on piece of paper for several hours mushooms will drop spores and the color of the spores are an aid in identifying.
As ihaveacow said it is probably a bolete, if it is it will have pores on the underside of the cap instead of gills. Some pictures of different boletes.

At first glance appeared as Xerocomus dryophila /chrysenteron complex....but also possible Suillus from some of the descripts also stem color points away which from the looks of it very possible the camera and/or bad light.....go see if you can find another (always more of that kind around) if possible.....check for blue bruising (may take a while for bruise to show(that mushroom is NOT MAGIC) and was it growing next to a Pine, Oak,....etc.....and also a clear close up with light from the underside of cap showing the yellowish pores, bruising if any and also close up of top of cap, then of stem dont move your hand when snapping pic and take like 20 snaps and pick best snaps......thats what the delete is for, and dont go eating any thing for all I know that might be deadly .....
