Mushroom Identification !
    #710317 -

Hey, It's been raining here for a while... *I'm in quebec*

And all these mushrooms started growing up in my lawn, like 40-50 LOL....

anyways what I did was take the cap, and put it on waxed paper, and put a cup
on top... left it over night, and on the waxed paper there was this black kind of
dust, I think their spores... *Yes i am indeed a newbie*...

Here's a description of the mushrooms...

Black Spore
Black *Greyish* Gils
Light Brownish Cap
Long but skinny Stem
Once Again they we're growing on grass, on my lawn....

Any help, is really appreciated!

oh for more description....

the caps were round, some were like 1-1,5 cm in diameter, and the stems were
about 7-10 cm long....

Thanks again

if they left black spores, and they came from your lawn...and based on the other descriptions you gave they are most likely some type of active panaeolus.

Here is a link rom another Canadian hunter Mitchnast

If they look like these and maybe show some blueing at the base then...cool. You found some actuve shroomies.

Cheers

"...I found dozens of single specimens.  That's what I call hunting.  There are only a few "good" hunters here, even now.  You're certainly in that group.  I would imagine if we hunted together we'd find our styles are similar."

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.

no please don't eat them if you are not 100% sure, wrong mushrooms can cause liver and kidney failure leading to transplants. did you see if they bruised blue? Seeing if they bruise blue is a biggie, but sometimes they don't bruise blue. Here are species from the Quebec area.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quebec*
Amanita muscaria
Panaeolus subbalteatus Berkeley & Broome. (Pollock, 1976).
Psilocybe caerulipes (Peck) Sacc. (Singer & Smith, 1958).
Psilocybe quebecensis Ola?h & Heim. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Psilocybe semilanceata.
