hi there, i'm looking for a good grow guide for psylocybe cyanescens mushrooms and the only one i seem to find using the 'search' feature is "erics guide" which has the disclaimer that nobody has had any success using it...
so,can anyone direct me to a good working cultivation guide for the psylocybe cyanescens shroomies?

i was just double checking over erics guide, it is realy no different then the PF tek. Get the PF tek for simple minds and just follow that :smile: hope this helps

Under his instruction, I taped drumsticks to his head and turned him into a sort of mummy, or perhaps a caterpiller in a cocoon. He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.

i need to know how to grow them indoors. will a PF tek work with mushrooms that need to grow on wood chips and need to have cooler temps for fruiting? THis will be my first grow.. i might have been better off starting with cubenses but these are the spores that found their way to me.

Store the spores somewhere and start with cubes...they are more forgiving to an inexperienced grower (like myself). Get the basics down, form your own techniques, and learn from your mistakes....then move on to more difficult ventures.

You could go for it, there are a few threads that show up at the bottom here that might be a good read...

well, i can't really start any other type of shroom. these spores were hard as hell to come by. Does anyone know if that Erics guide fto cyanescen cultivation is any good at all? or is it just wrong and will not work ? it's just hard to find much pertinent information for growing these cyanescens especially when i can only get on the comp for a few minutes at a time at work... bummer...
anyway.. anyone else know anything about growing these? thanks for the replies

ok, so i have the pf tek for simple minds memorized by now, but i'm just wondering if anyone knows if it will also work with psylocybe cyanescens. it seems like a shroom that likes growing on woodchips like cyan would need some sort of modification to this tek. Also, what about what Eric's guide says about them needing to be fruited in lower temps?

I made cakes of psilocybe azurescens using the Alien tek found in the growers guide on this site. It worked alright during the cake part, growth was slow, but full colonization was achieved. I broke up the cakes and mixed them with alder chips (not the kiln dried smoke chips)and they really took off. I was also able to make a liquid culture of azurescens and used that to spawn a grain jar. Both ways worked well to get wood chips colonized.


That was Azurescens, but they like similar conditions. I think that getting them to fruit indoors would be difficult. The only results I have seen have not really been great. Perhaps you could get a bin of wood chips colonized, then case with a very light layer of some soil medium which has grass seeds in it, grow the grass during the summer and it could fruit in the fall outdoors, you could just set it on your porch.

ahhh thanks gopal, that sounds like what i might have to do. Perhaps i'll try using half the spore print now to do an indoor grow and then when fall comes around i could do as you suggest.
Also, any suggestions as to where to get alder wood chips? as far as i know these trees aren't very prevalent (if present at all) in my area.

Alder chips can be bought from fungiperfecti.com

any deciduous type of woodchip should work well

#1Take your spores, make an LC.
#2 Take the fully colonized LC and draw up a syringe.
#3 Make up spawn jars(bran/sawdust)
#4 inoculate.
After colonization is complete
#5 spawn to cardboard or sawdust(i recommend cardboard).
#6 Next lay the card board into treys and cover 1-2inches deep with alder chips(if using sawdust, spawn mixing is recommended).

No casing is needed, so once colonization is complete a temperature drop to 50-60 will induce fruiting.

Indoor opps. are possible but require cooling systems and controlled airflow.(an old refrigerator with air pumps/stones and florescent lighting will suffice).
outdoor grows must be planed around the growing season, and are best put into place in the early spring. in outdoor opps, follow the same steps but instead of laying the cardboard into treys, find a secluded half-shaded spot and dig a hole 1-3 inches deep, water, lay down the cardboard, then the chips, then a tarp or dead leafs are placed over top to hold the moisture in. water according to local weather conditions(maintaining RH) then in the fall you should have your private mushroom patch!

Very usefull info in this thread...Im curious to know what, if any, are the special attributes to this strain which make it worth the effort? Are they dramatically more potent? The local shop sells these spores and I would like to know about them before I try to grow them myself. Thanks

wow, good info ESance, thanks! i have to ask though, since i'm a total newb, what is an "LC"? since it sounds like i'd need to get another refrigerator to rig up with floro lights, i'll probably just go ahead and try to grow some of these babies outdoors since it's early spring here.  Perhaps i'll look for some cubensis spores to grow in the meantime afterall. I just got these spores from a friend who bought them in amsterdam not having any knowledge of what trouble they would cause me to try and grow indoors hehe.
i -really- liek the idea of having a cyanescens patch in my backyard hehehe how cool would that be! but i'd like to get some sort of shroomies going before the end of the summer (BURNING MAN!!) so unless anyone has more detailed info on producing indoors, then i'll have to do an outdoor (oh drat :wink: ) and get some cube spores since info abounds for these pups.

oh, also, about the chips, can they be half rotten chips from fallen trees or do they need to be freshly chipped off of live wood? and how big (length X width) of a patch could a person make from one spore print?
