Most people that grow peyote just grow it to have it, not chop it down in 10-15 years and eat it!! I would never I eat a peyote if I had grown it. Unless I grew one specifically to eat. But I have a hard time ingesting an indangered species that may not exist in the wild because idiots that don't know how to cut them right, or just cut all of them that they see and still dont cut them right!

i intent to eat 30-40% of my peyotes but most arent for consumption, at least those not grafted. i have around 170 peyotes in age group 1-3 years grown from seed and 12 that is grafted to trichs.

that only one peyote seed germinated is somewhat strange if you threw in plenty. maybe the seeds was very old or something? i usually have a high germ ratio on lophs.

i guess some of em just dont wanna...

i wouldent eat any of my lophs either, except maybe once just to know
the unique experiance n stuff.

im not sure what kind this is i got the seeds from the netherlands i dont think they are a vendor on this site and i dont want to give that out for forum rules but i was surprised the vendor actually sent them and they made it....and ya it may take some years for it to grow but i think its neat to have considering its not something you find from a local dealer on the corner if i want to eat some which i plan on doin soon i would just order a whole live plant or a couple of them from this vendor and consume those...this is my baby though do you guys think its time i could possibly leave it on a window seal now since its about that big or should i still keep it under my floro? i really want it in natural sun though... also at this age how often should i water it? also one other question does it actually take 10-15 years b4 these plants are ready to use?

I never said anything about eating it...all I meant was it takes 2 or 3 decades to get a nice specimen, mature, flowering, and a good size etc.

i keep mine under one normal flouro light, 6-8 inches above the little peyotes.

as for watering....i dont know. mine are still in a pretty sterile warm environment....and dont dry out. I plan on keeping them this way for a couple months then aclimate them to normal dryer environment

i hardened mine off at about 7 months i think,
after that i water about onece every 2 weeks or so,
regularly skipping a watering here and there.
i think a little water deprivation might help it to develope the
characteristic shape of the plants in the wild.

Good to know.

About how big were your plants when you started to harden them off?

Rather than making a new post I will use this one
I got 20 seeds of Lophophora Williamsii. I wanted to grow peyote for a long time now I may have the change to do it. I got my cactus soil... Is it good to mix it with perlite or vermiculite ?

I can get most of my peyote seeds to germinate.

1. Make sure the medium is plenty moist.
2. Make sure the seeds are not burried.
3. Make sure the soil is about 80 degrees.
4. Keep it maoist with plenty of light.

My seeds germinate within a week. Really warm moist soil is k3y + light.
