My new baby
    #5470897 - 04/02/06 02:02 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Meet Icarus...

My manager found him wandering around her neighborhood. She saw him following groups of kids around, and thought that he belonged to them until one of the kids hit the pup upside the head and kicked him away. Then over the next few days, she saw him following other people around, until eventually, he ended up on her sister's porch. Her sister was going to dumb him in some other neighborhood, but my manager decided to take him into our groom shop and see if she could find him a home.

Anyway, nobody else wanted him. So I took him.

Here he is with Bambi, our 12 year old lab mix. Bambi and Icarus have some issues to work out. You can feel the tension in the picture.

It's pretty different having a baby around. I feel all maternal and shit. I just want to be the best parent I can. He's going to the vet this coming week and then I am enrolling him in a puppy training class. (I get one for free at work)

I wanted to share my pictures.

He's really cute!  You're so good to take him in like that Michelle!

I'm sure him and Bambi will work things out and learn to coexist civilly, and maybe they'll even become friends  :tongue2:

Any idea what kind of dog he is?  It kind of looks like a german shepard mix maybe?

Yep, definately a shepherd mix in my opinion.  Kevin refers to him as a "finder of 'things'."  :tongue2:  He is into everything, so we've been taking him to the dog park since day one to get all his energy out..."a tired dog is a good dog."  I'm used to a senior dog so this puppy is wearing me out.  In a good way, though.  It's really made me feel all sorts of love and stuff to have someone else to focus on constantly.

And it's made me appreciate people who have born human offspring.

I know, having a puppy is a TON of work, when we first got Lucy it was pretty much non stop training and work.  It pays off in a big way though, you'll wind up with a well behaved, well socialized dog

Most of our furniture is cheap. Except our futon and treadmill, which are our most expensive pieces of furniture.

Icarus is lying quietly beside me now. He is tired out!

Wow Elle, Icarus is one cool-looking dog!
