In an incubator next to my computer i hae 7 blue chicken eggs that are hatching right now  im a chicken dadie again 4 eggs have little holes opening and chirps going out im chuffed this is my second sucsess at hatching eggs

Incubators are cool. Ive hatched chickens, ducks, turkies and a canada goose in mine before the dog chewed it up. You have aracauna(SP) chicks?

Yep there aracauna X something else eggs i got from a friend.
This year is my first attempts at this and ive already gone from egg to egg cycle and egg to dinner table cycle as i ate one of my extra cockerals the other day lol so turning into a proper farmer(Grew up iner city)
Gota try a goose egg as well give the dog a run for its money

You should try to do exotic bird eggs.
There really easy to break but theres good money in it.
Theres a lady that runs our local feed and seed store and she raises afican grays
There worth a shitload of money
She buys the eggs off a breeder online and the arrive in a bucket of sand.
She hatches them and hand feeds the babies. I think she said there worth close to 1500.00 each but it might be more.
I did some bobwhite quails once lol
I ordered them out of a boyslife mag (boyscout mag) when i was a kid.

Haha, right on, another poultry farmer. I thought I was alone. I've hatched a few, in my friend's incubator though. One time I tried incubating two Faverolle eggs, only one hatched and the chick died when it was a few months old  it was weird too, cause I had a pair of beautiful Faverolles that I bought at a poultry show at the county fair, and they started mysteriously dying, first the hen, then the rooster, then about a month after the rooster died, the little baby did too...so I'm thinking they had some sort of genetic type disease or something, it didn't seem to effect any of my other chickens, I did have them seperated though. The other time I incubated two purebred Aracauna eggs and one White-Crested Black Polish egg. All of them hatched, I still have both the Aracaunas (both turned out to be hens) and the Polish (he is now my only rooster)
We also have a pair of white ducks (i forget the name) one Campbell female duck, and two of these other ducks....I have no idea what type they are...they're grey with little puffs of fluff on their heads, and one African goose.
this is a picture of the White-Crested Black Polish rooster I was speaking of.
and here's a pic of the unknown breed of duck, an interesting thing is that the duck in the backround is the mother of the duck in the foreground...anyone know what breed they are?

unsure what those ducks are but i had a simular thing with
Silkie bantams i bought 2 hens and a cock from the same breeder
first both hens died followed by the cockerel.I asumed they were prob all
related and inbreed so i also thought they maybe died of something genetic.
All my chickens are cross breeds now
And rasing them and eating them isnt as hard as i thought it would be.The prob is to many cockerel so recently i had to eat 2 of them and bloody tasty they were 2

hmm. I've never eaten any of mine, just have them for eggs. My neighbor has a shitload of chickens and an incubator, he eats a good ammout of them, he also has a few beautiful gamecocks and hens. Most the chickens I have are wayyy past the age you want them to be at to eat.
I'm probably not gonna get anymore chickens when the ones I currently have die off. I found out geese live for like 30 years, mine is only a few years old, I'm gonna have this fucker for a long time, and he's such a bastard.

lol geese are agresive fuckers for sure lol.
I keep all my hens but the last lot i incubated were 3 hens and 4 cocks.
So as a meat eater i had to step up to the plate and show i could do more than buy of a shelve.Horrid thing to do but i was pretty proud at the end of it all.I know that chicken had a good life with about an acre of land to its self lol and it did taste beter than any shop bought chicken.
I have 2 white ducks(Aylesbury) 2 karque cambels and one mallard male as well lol pretty dam simular hu.
Some one suggsted i get an osterich lol but i would like an emu or maybe some peacocks

Heh nice. that's exactly how my neighbor got into eating the chickens, he got more roosters than he wanted and the rest is history.
I really like the white ducks, my male white duck has had a fucked up leg for a long ass time. See the goose used to try to have sex with the female white duck, so the male white duck would attack the goose to protect his woman, and naturally the goose would beat the shit out of him, but he wouldn't give up. So we put the pair of white ducks together in the coop with the chickens. The male duck rarely walks, and when he does it's pretty sad looking, but he seems to be happy and healthy.
How long do ducks usually live?

Not sure how long they live for ive had mine 4 days so far lol.They were from some one that was moving abroad so i gave em a home there all pretty old and live in the area the chickens do.I was happy that they get along well as i thought i may have some fights but there fine together(there is a lot of space)
Your goose looks fit lol what sort is it? i was thinking geese for security before i got the dog but if they dont mix with other fowl i think ill avoid them

African Goose. Geese get along fine with other fowl, as long as the other fowl stay out of their way heh. Our goose makes so much noise, he
honks all the time for no apparent reason. And he's a mean fucker too, but if you hold your ground and pick him up when he attacks you enough times, he learns that he can't fuck with you It's hard to catch him without getting nailed by his wings, after a few times though you get it down to an art. Getting hit with the wings sure hurts like hell though.

When I was at school we tried to hatch an Ostriches egg, didn't fucking work though! Couldn't even use it to make a big-ass omelette! :P

My birds are a pair of BB Red Bantams, a pair of Mallard ducks, pair of Royal Palm turkies and a pair of Black Shoulder Peafowl. Its like Noahs Ark  I had some baby peafowl last year but they only lived a month and got sickly. Expensive birds are so hard to raise. But Peafowl make a really neat niose and are pretty friendly.

Yeah peafowl almost bleep as a noise lol have you heard quinea fowl?they sound odd.A friend of mine had to caracols(SP)and they bleeped like a phone.
I think i might try a turkie are they easy to keep?

My neighbors all around me have crazy animals, one dude has a bunch of peacocks that roam his property, these other people have all sorts of different types of show hens and cocks and ducks and geese and turkies. They have these endangered Hawaiian Geese, I think they're called Ne Ne. They look like little miniature geese.

Turkies are fairly easy to hatch and raise with an incubator. Yeah my neighbor has guineas and they pretty much come here anyway so I dont need any. I heard they eat ticks and stuff like that tho. I moved to MS from New Orleans, LA 3 years ago and started with the farm birds. If your gonna live in the country you might as well have a few animals and birds are easy to take care of.

I used to have a duck. raised it from an egg. it led a good life. the sad thing was that whenever i put it in a cage, it would ram its head and beak and try and get out, i could never leave it in there for fear of it hurting itself. but it was just like a dog. i let it run free, i live on a golf course. i could walk right up to it, pick it up, pet it and put it down. but my neighbor killed it.. bastard. hit it w/ a broom, then the dogs got killed it and cats ate it (i think) i found the beaks and legs in my neighbors yeard under a bush. his name was zackary. he was a nice green/black/orane

Damn, that's shitty, how long did he live untill his demise? Also, could he fly? He could have flown somewhere, and the legs and beak you found could have been from a different duck, at most golf courses around here, there are shitloads of ducks, some wild that migrate, and some that are the type that cant fly. It would be crazy if one day zackary flew home.
And on a completely different note, look at this freakishly small chicken egg I got a little while ago, it was one of my full sized hens too. I've gotten a few weird ones over the years, but never have I seen one thats round like this.

My silkie bantams used to lay the odd round white egg almost like an owl egg.But the wierdest i see are when old hens lay these sort of wrinkled eggs.I also had some X batterie hens and one of them was so fucked up from living in the batterie farm that it didnt know how to eat a balanced diet and avoided the oyster shell therefore every egg it laid(1 every day of its life here)was seethrough and wobbly like gellie.The dog ate all these ones lol.

Yeah, sometimes my ducks lay those soft eggs, sometimes they're so soft they break when the duck lays them, because occasionally you'll just find a yolk and white sitting there in the pen with the nasty soft shell right there.
I really like game birds, I think I might get a gamecock when my current rooster dies, I also need to have my neighbor incubate some eggs for me, I don't have many laying hens left, and most of the ones I do have are fairly old.
