I saw Big Brother watching me at Ultra (Winter Music Confrence)

Thats Right.. Big Brother himself was called upon to spy on the candy kids at South Florida's largest electronic music festival last weekend. The City of Miami had a raisable observatory fully equiped with video cameras and tinted glass all around while the narcs inside scanned over the 45,000 concert goers in hopes to find people taking/selling drugs and having a good time.

I was a little horrified about being watched like this. The only thing that gave me a flase sense of security was staring back at the Miami Police with my own camera as they hung above the massive crowd. Sorry about the quality, but my camera phone was all that I had available at the time.

"The poor planning annoyed me a little, but the Miami Police Department's attaching cameras to a robotic crane so it could spy on concertgoers really pissed me off. I suppose that's to be expected in a city where young, weird people tend to receive, shall we say, rough treatment at the hands of police officers -- just ask anyone who was beaten to a pulp by the Miami PD during the 2003 Free Trade Area of the Americas protests."

man what the fuck? theres a little music festival were i live called evolve and the year befor last hade the bigist show of like 6-7 000 and the 2ed day 2 cops show up and with in i think it was 5 min thay got like kicked out

Hahahah, I saw that - a bit excessive but I took it as humorous. I didn't think the police presence at Ultra was too bad. As I was walking in there I saw a cop on a golf cart with a GIANT cigar in his mouth having a great time like everyone else. They even drove a golf cart through a thick crowd at the breaks tent and everyone was cheering them on. That thing is probably more just to show you they are there then to be assholes. I didn't see or hear about anyone getting busted.

WMC was great, and you should all come down next year (stay at my place!)
but the police is south florida are real swamp people nazi bastards. needless to say peripheries were good places to bump into others...

I actually did see a few people get busted, but nothing rediculous considering the number of people there. The crowd was one of the biggest problems of Ultra. Another problem was that the sound sucked at the main stage. The music and crowds were much better years ago when they had it at Bayside.

The Techno tent and the Live Breatbeat tent rocked the house!

Well damn, they must have been super stupid to get busted. Hell yeah, breakbeat and DnB was where it was at. The house tent was great too for special effects and the liquid nit. tanks!

That thing was at the global gathering the weekend before aswell It doesn't look like its even moved since. Me and my friends remember thinking the same thing big brother.

I dunno.. After going to this years WMC I wish I had gone to Global Gathering instead. The Winter Music Confrence was more like the Waiting in Line Confrence.
