I'm sicker than a dog right now, with a horrible headache and I'm about to pass out. IOW, I searched and cant find what I'm looking for.
So, does anyone know how well Pan trop's grow on pasteurised straw. I know a very thin casing is required, but, I can't remember if manure is also a necessity for this specie. Dude is wondering... He already spawned the straw, so he will find out soon enough, but if anyone can say for sure, we'd really appreciate it.

Yes they grow on straw, very well. Without the manure. Only problem is straw contaminates easier then manure based substrates, with Panaeolus. If you can keep it clean till the end of the first flush, you are in for a great flush.

Thanks Roadkill, I feel a bit better now, im going to get a good nights rest, and hopefull I'll be ready for Friday night tomorrow.
Teonan, thanks for the answer. Hopefully dude will be able to ward off any contams for long enough. He kind of went overboard(he has about a 6-8 inch compressed straw layer). It should be killer if it works. Also, the Pan trop mycelium grew thin, wispy, and kind of slow on the birdseed, but after less than 24 hours, it is growing amazingly quickly over the straw(quicker than any cubie Ive seen on straw). It shocked me.

Heres dude's problem now...
He began initiating pinning about 4 or 5 days ago, and no pins... 1. How long have you guys experienced the first pins forming after initiation?
2. Does anybody have the optimum parameters for growth? or a copy of the params for Panaeolis cyanescen in TMC?
Thanks
Oq
