Sounds like a great idea. After seing Pan.Cyan. fruiting furiously right off the agarplates i cant wait til i get the time/space/privacy to try some cultivation ideas on them. Your experiences with this one would be of much help.

A FOAF had the same thing happen. Tiny fruits on agar. How very cool.. Their mycelia is heartier than all the docs make them seem. Anyone have probs w/ pan cyan mycelia dying off after grain shake?

Yes Ralph, I'd find a Pan. Trop/Cyanescens tek helpful!! I haven't had any luck fruiting either of them so far. I've found the mycellium of both to be anemic on agar as well as rye. So far I've tried to go to straw (trop.) without any luck. I currently have cyanescens on rye ready for spawning something. Two of the jars appear to have knots forming into pins without any casing. I'll report back on that if anything turns out. I also have another experiment running. I use liquid culture to inoculate grain and I had two small jars of about 30ml each left over. I pasteruized two plastic glad containers worth of straw and mixed 30ml liquid culture in each container. Smelled pretty ripe for a while and was going to chuck them in the garden (as compost). Checked them yesterday and they're both nicely colonized and ready for casing. It took 10 days to colonize. I'll report back if that Pan's :) out. Egghead, I've had problems where jars that are 80% colonized are shaken and nothing comes back. It's like the mycellium just dries (dies?) out. So far the Cyanescens seems to be slightly hardier. I might not be making a fair comparison because the rye spawn for it was prepared with straw tea as opposed to spring water for the trop. attempt.

if everyone seems to stand so high and mighty about just growing for personal use and not looking for the weight for sale as an end result than I feel like over the next few months the pans will hopefully become the norm for indoor cultivation. with this, hopefully we will start to see a increase in the development of genetics through breeding. I look foreward to the day where the market is flooded with not only pan cyans/trops, but a wide selection of pan cyan/trops spore races to chose from. We definatly need a tek to bring these species to the top.....pf style or cased, its time peoples. Peace ALDER_057

i would love to see that as well, but see there arent that many cows or sheep or horses in the middle of NYC (and no i am not going to go to central park and ask a carriage buggy for his horses shit). so we dont have dung and thus arent able to grow pans. so we gotta deal with what we can grow easily. peace, ar393
