Catshit is the worst stench imaginable, and my cat's rectum is attached to the sewers of Hades. :sad:

I just had to remove some cat shit with TP and I retched all the way.

This brings me to a tip for y'all catlovers: if you have to deodorize places impregnated with the fluids of animal shit or piss and you can't scrub there yet, use two heaping tablespoons of washing soda (Na2CO3) in a liter of water.

This is quite alkaline, so don't use it on delicate materials or where the cat usually rests.

The worst offenders in cat shit are short-chain carboxylic acids (such as the hellish Butyric acid of putrefaction and parmasan cheese fame)  all of which will form odorless sodium salts with washing soda

NaOOC-CH2CH2CH3

which have the added benefit of being soaplike, thus aiding the thorough cleaning you can do once the smell subsided.
The effect is the same as disinfecting disaster areas with lime.

You can apply the washing soda solution with a plant mister, but watch out for the alkaline mist.

i always just sprinkle baking soda on the carpet, and maybe spray a bit of resolve on top of that, let it sit for 20 minutes, then vacuum it out (after taking away the poo, scrubbing the floor a bit with water, etc)

But why didn't your cat poop in the litterbox? Cats hate to soil their living environment with unburied turds.
