excessive pinning on sides of casing, underneath

I lifted my casing up today and there are about 50 pins on 2 sides of the casing coming up. They look like they have been pushed up against the casing from starting to grow into the sides of the tray. I positioned the casing so it was diagnol in the air to let thos pins get light and away from the sides of the tray. Has anyone done this before, and how to keep these from aborting? Is it ok to lightly mist over these, the casing is extremely dry and I was thinking that since it was, these pins will not be able to grow to a decent mature size. Thanks

Two things will cause this,
1) A clear casing container.
2) A matted casing layer. (the mycelia can't get air)
