I think the mods could be a little more even-handed in their handling of the "no-flame" rule.

I agree.  This is one of the more irksome flaws with the pub.

The pub has some really great posters, people that I wish I posted with more regularly.  I just don't like posting in a forum that features moderators who claim to be "sworn enforcers" of the pub rules.

I like the place. It irks me when disagreement is regarded as flaming in here though.

I love posting in the Pub, however it would be nice if certain rules were a little more lenient. Mainly the "No Flaming" rule, because a good insult is needed at times.

It sure is. Do you think that the  mods are unfair in thier judgement when it comes to reinforcing that rule?

Most of the pub mods seem to be pretty fair, however from what I've seen there are a select few that make pretty wild judgement calls and tend to be biased towards certain members due to personal agendas or past encounters. That isn't really fair. I feel an ideal moderator should not hold grudges and treat every user equally.

Exactly what I'm talking about! If I did that, I'd be shown the door.

It's bullshit.

I even get away with it.

OTDer does it and it's a flame and they are given points.

Exactly. People are entitled to have a bad day and lash out once in a while, or get annoyed by somebody who's blatantly full of shit and call them out on it, that's life. In the pub you are expected to have a happy day everyday, that's not realistic. I mean I understand that OTD exists but some people such as myself prefer posting in the Pub regardless.

RE: all

Some of you, I find, are being very quick to judge.  You say you want more freedom and less laws, but if your constantly pushing the envelope, there are going to be consequences...you know?

You say you want the right to have a bad day and tell someone to fuck off, I think you do have that right.  If you go to work and have a shitty day and tell some asshole to fuck off, it's just a thing that happened and no one is going to think twice about it.  If you go to work and tell someone to fuck off for two weeks straight people are going to start thinking you're an asshole with a bad attitude, which might actually be the case given the consistency.

I think it's ok to be crankey and pissy sometimes... hell, I know I am.  I'm know I show it at times, too.  If you want more freedom in the pub, share your cheesy side with us too.  Not just the crankey one.  Show us your pictures of your cat, or baby, or brothers wedding.  Tell us about your new job, your weekend, your girlfriend.

I think the ones who feel singled out are maybe the ones who present themselves negatively?

I asked pillow to edit his post in respect to the discussion at hand and my request in the first post of the thread.  He did and I'm grateful for it.  I think I would have extended the same courtesy to any member, wether they frequent the Pub, OTD, or any other forum.

Each different moderator does bring a different perspective into the mix.  We all choose our battles differently but I think we all have the same general motives.

Keep telling me things...I like this thread.

I am rarely negative, you can ask anyone if here that. I was banned in the Pub once, and I was definitely not pushing the envelope. I am not a trouble maker, that much is damn sure.

Great post Bom, couldn't agree with you more. Like I said, I love the pub, and all in all you guys do a great job as Adom said.

It's just too bad a certain two pub mods don't feel the same way as yourself and the others. Most of the drama that goes down in here in one way or another seems to involve these two certain mods.

I like the pub, but as has been said - expecting the world to be flowers and sunshine every day is ridiculous. Negativity needs to be allowed. It's part of life.

That said, I sometimes feel like I don't have much freedom here. But when I'm all cheery and and ready to talk like a hippy, this is where I go.
