Their sound varies pretty heavily from album to album... I like to describe each album as "50% their last effort, 50% innovation".. so if you don't like one, try another.

A very good way to put it.They are in the process of recording their new album- Each album but as of not i think Make Yourself is at the number one but......rating their music is so hard to do because it is all different and different things are hard to compare

Their early albums like Enjoy Incubus, Fungus, SCIENCE, and Make Yourself were the shit, especially the first three. After those albums they really lost it, its a shame. Download 'Sink Beneath the Line', 'Psychocilocobyn" "You will be a hot dancer' ' hilikus' , 'calgone [extended one]' 'certain shade of green' 'redefine'

their sound has changed...yes, not as fast, not as much funk and not as much screaming but i don't think i would say they lost it by any means...they are just developing their own sound..A lot of bands evolve as the produce records but......If you ask me Sick Sad Little World is one of the most bad ass songs they wrote and that is off their newest album. Although A certain Shade of green rocks just as hard. They are just becoming more diverse IMO.

Yup. What he said. Everyone is welcome to their opinion... I feel they have just as much soul in their new work as their old... and soul is what matters most to me in music.

I'll give you this, Sick Sad Little World and Megalomaniac are good songs. But the rest of the album is really beat, Boyd has really turned into a pussy. So many of their songs lack the outbursts of talent, and the raw energy they could produce with songs.Jose and Eisinger, some of the best musicians around today; but they aren't making music like they used to. And this new Bassist sucks, I want Dirk !

What part of bens playing leads you to believe he sucks? Dirk was really good but if you listen to bens independent music....there is no way i could say that he is lacking is skill. But...even still.im excited to see what the new album sounds like...And just because brandon isnt screaming into the mic all of the time doesnt mean he is a pussy. His lyrics are still as meaning filled as when he first started.

Yes. What he said AGAIN.

The opinion of anyone who declares a vocalist a "pussy" for evolving their musical style is automatically irrelevant to me.

Also, Incubus live at Red Rocks. If you haven't seen it, don't talk to me about Ben not having skills. Maybe you don't like the way he writes (ONCE AGAIN, subjective OPINION) but he certainly does NOT 'suck'.

Have you ever heard the bass line to Speak Free?
Dirk was the man

Have you seen the lyrics to songs like Southern Girl and Agaraphobia?

Their last great Album was Morning View, and to be honest about 50 percent of that album sucked. It has nothing to do with Boyd screaming, I don't think I ever mentioned his screaming once (which is pretty good); but you cowboys keep referring to it.

No need to get mad but i know dirk was a good player..all i said is that ben is really good too..i dont know if it is just change that you dont like (which it seems to be the case ) but..i think that these are reall great lyrics, when the industury is full of anger and viloence in the music, it is really hard to write peacefull happy songs that people like

"Remember when we were
Just flesh and bone. You sir,
May have forgotten how good your world could be

So, put down your hollow tips
And kiss your lovers lips
And know that fate is what you make of it

Please end this
Before it ends us
Ends us"

I just cant bring my self to view lyrics like that as weak....Is this why you call him a pussy, because there are thoughts of compassion reflected in music... you just dont seem to have any reasons you give for why you thinks its shit other than the fact that it doesnt sound exactly like it did 9 years ago, which in my opinion, almost 9 years of music from one band that changes very little gets kindof old. Being able to put a slow piano song like mexico and a rock like under my umbrella on the same album and still sell millions is a great sign of an artists diversity.

Compassion, Peaceful, Happiness; first off stop debating with me over things I never referred to.

And second, Dirk was just a better bassist IMO. At first I welcomed the change, feeling that it was the bands obligation to do whatever they wanted, but I was a bit dissapointed with Ben's playing.

The reason I feel its shit, is because most of it reflects the crappiness of Alternative Rock today. Crow left of the Murder, in some aspects, brought them closer to the Pop Rock industry then ever.

Some incubus lyrics I love:

Picture the scene, where whatever you thought,
Would, in the blink of an eye, manifest and become illustrated.
You'd be sure man that every line drawn
Reflected a life that you loved
Not an existence that you hated.
So, must we demonstrate that we can't get it straight?
We've painted a picture, now we're drowning in the paint.
Let's figure out what the fuck it's about,
Before the picture we painted chews us up and spits us out.

Redefine

I'm sick of painting in black and white
My pen is dry, now I'm uptight.
So sick of limiting myself to fit your definition.

So, must we demonstrate that we can't get it straight?
We've painted a picture, now we're drowning in the paint.
Let's figure out what the fuck it's about,
Before the picture we painted chews us up and spits us out
-----------
I'd like to close my eyes, go numb
but there's a cold wind coming from
the top of the highest high rise today
it's not a breeze cause it blows hard
yes and it wants me to discard
the humanity I know
watched the warmth blow away
----------
When it comes, it comes abrupt, and it feels
it feels like trading brains with an imbecile, for real
yes I feel emphatic about not being static
and not buying philosophies that are sold to me, no
at a steal

Just when you thought, it was safe to think
in comes mental piracy, and no
what I'm looking for (for)
can not be sold to me (me)
I wish they all would stop trying
cause what I want, and what I need
is and will always be free, now

It's coming around again
they're letting it out again, again
it's coming around again
they're letting it out again

When it comes, it comes unannounced, and it feels
like a matador is taunting me with his reddest red cloth
and I am the bull
yes I feel emphatic about not being static
and not eating the bullshit that's being fed to me, no,
---------
Isn't it strange that a gift could be an enemy
Isn't it weird that a privilege could feel like a chore
maybe its me, but this life isn't going anywhere
maybe if we looked hard enough we could find a back door
find yourself a back door

I see you in line dragging your feet
you have my sympathy
the day you were born you were born free
that is your privilege

Isn't it strange that the man standing in front of me
doesn't have a clue why he's waiting or what he's waiting for
maybe its me but I'm sick of wasting energy
maybe if I look in my heart, I can find a back a door
find yourself a back door

----------
You killed the very thing that keeps us
hanging on to our dear lives
so, in a sense you bit the hand
that feeds us just to make your prophet now
and with the coming generation
at the torn seems
this is what you call progress
I call it shame

---------
Better than watching Geller bending silver spoons
better than witnessing newborn nebulas in bloom
she who sees from up high smiles and surely sings
prospective pries her once weighty eyes and it gives you wings

I haven't felt the way I feel today
In so long it's hard for me to specify
I'm beginning to notice
how much this feels like a waking limb
pins and needles, nice to know you
good-bye, nice to know you
good-bye, nice to know you
good-bye, nice to know you
good-bye, nice to know you
to know you

Deeper than the deepest Coustou would ever go
and higher than the heights of what we often think we know
blessed is she who clearly sees the wood for the trees
to obtain a birds eye is to turn a blizzard to a breeze

let me thank http://www.najical.com/incubus/ for making it so easy to find all the lyrics I love.

I see your point- when i want to get pumped and rock out...science is the alum i throw in. to chill i put in morningview. to sing brandon has become more vocal in a crow left of the murder, and to makeyourself is kind of my blend to some rock and longer vocals than enjoy incubus. But in the end im left very excited to hear their new album...Peace brother
