Capitalism over free information on the shroomery
    #5355202 -

I have been ask to remove the links on my signature Because they don?t link to a shroomery sponsor websites, Its ok to have links in your signature if they are paying sponsors but not if they aren?t apparently
I put those links in my signature because I feel that the presser cooker is
The most costly and important investment a mushroom hobbyist
Will buy, we all need one if we mature as hobbyist and I posted these links because I found a fair priced and trustworthy vendor, I have both read and responded to many post about presser cookers and feel strongly about it, but I was told quote
?Several of our sponsors sell Pressure cookers. You having links to Pressure cookers in your signature takes business away from Shroomery Vendors...which pisses them off and the Admin and I get notifications from them asking us to get rid of them.? (Roadkill)
This site clamed to be about the free exchange of information and yet it seams that profit is the most important and trumps my want to help and recommend a vendor to the community just because they aren?t a paying sponsor

I am sure I will be reprimanded and many be even banned from this site
But I believe the community at large would not agree with this kind of sensor ship.
True its there web site and they can do what they want but that does not mean we have to
Take it and just to consumers worth advertising dollars

no its not a bullshit rule
you see the shroomery gets 2.5 MILLION hits a day, that requires lots and lots of hardware, and 5 people on staff to fix the damn site when it breaks.

then you have to figure that the server connection to a highspeed line and the rental on the spaace where it is, and the cost of having someone onsite to go play with the damn thing.....

this site costs money to run, that comes form the sponsors. in order to show our apreciation to them the shroomery prevents the advertising of non sponsored competitors.

do you get all that?
if you apreciate this site you should take down tohse links

The reason you were asked to take them down was because it is not fair to the sponsors, it's not censorship, like zippoz said, this site is BIG and it cost money to run. This is the reason why we have sponsors, they make it possible to bring this site and all the cool features it has to the people (to keep it free for the public). These sponsors PAY to put ads here. Is it not unfair to let people advertise the same products for free?

If there were no sponsors, the shroomery as you know it could not exist.

Read the rules. Follow the rules. Don't bitch about rules that make perfect sense.

And if you think All American pressure cookers need advertisement on a site like this you're off your fucking rocker.
