is it ok to birth cakes into the same tererium if they are different strains...that would get a little expensive to make a whole new tererium for another strain....
another Q:i am gonna make a casing..i know the casing mix should be sterile..what about the perlite im gonna use on bottom layer? and i plan on birthing my cakes on perlite also....should i sterlize it? if so how? PC?
1 more Q:how many cakes you think you can fit into a terrium thats 33 inches long 15 wide and 17 tall? how close can they be together? i figured at least 30 cakes? is that too many or not enough?
thanks

I love PF cakes for the simple reason of the many options. I also love casings for the yield and many options. I'm still a newbie when it comes to casings, and in my experience you don't need the perlite on the bottom of your casing. I have two Maza casings, one with 50/50 the other vermiculite straight, and no bottom perlite. The verm is showing better colonizing with this type of mushie. The 50/50 is good also.
I've done two other casings without the perlite and had sucess. Humidity is a little harder to control, depending on your set up and location.
Good luck and Jah Bless

your question about the overcrowding/space between cakes...the reason you have to have them distant from each other is because the shrooms can begin to grow off the sides, which will cause many problems..use your imagination. however i seem to remember a tek for casing whole cakes, which entailed having the cakes side by side then covering with verm.
