Okay, final report. Harvested. The openeind bag did not make it. But the closed bag was a big producer.
Thanks again to those of you that helped this new grower.

Excellent. Did you reseal the bag with tape immediately after harvest for more flushes? And did you get a wet weight?
Don't let Ralphster see those mushrooms, he hates the bags.

I used clothespins to reseal the bag, but just taped it per your suggestion. Not expecting much though. Wet weight was 3oz. I think I can do better. Most of these were growing along the edges of the bag.

3 ounces = 84 grams. Thats a good initial flush and probably the best one you will get from that bag. With luck you should get 50-60 grams from the second flush. I am a bit concerned that you lost the bag you opened before pinning even though it was fully colonized. What did you do exactly when you opened it and what went wrong? Mold, drying, bluing? Are you certain its dead?
And don't worry about the mushrooms just forming on the bag edge. Every mushroom I grew in the bags formed at the edges.

Wow! Over 8 grams dry off the first flush of one bag?!
Is this the expected yield if everything is done correctly? I know Workman got about 6 grams off his first flush...
And the bags are about 25 days from innoculation to cropping? right?
Whats the expected yield of 3 half pint PF cakes on the first flush?all flushes?
What is the expected time from innoculation to cropping?
I'm trying to compare yields of the two methods related to the amount of innoculant used, as well as the time from the beginning to first flush. I'm figuring 2.5cc's per bag, or 1cc per half pint jar...

Its really going to vary with strain and environmental conditions (temp and light are the only things you need to worry about) but here are my updated results with 2 Ecuador bags.
Bag #1Ecuador
1st flush at day 26, 50.5 grams wet = 5.9 grams dry
2nd flush at day 34, 53.6 grams wet = 6.4 grams dry
3rd flush at day 44 (one mushroom), 25.4 grams wet = 3.4 dry
4th flush pending (Only one mushroom and several dead pins now)
Total so far 15.7 dry grams
Bag#2 Ecuador
1st flush at day 30, 59.6 grams wet = 6.4 grams dry
2nd flush (didn't note day) 61.6 grams wet = 8.4 grams dry
3rd flush (didn't note day) 23.5 grams wet = 3.6 grams dry
4th flush (I see pins!)
Total so far 18.4 dry grams
There was another report by Manna420 of a first flush of only 10 wet grams. Thats not so good.

First flush shakeout (wet weight).
tappuck 84 grams
Workman 59 grams
manna420 10 grams
On average, I say the standard pf tek produces about 5 dry grams of mushrooms per life of the 1/2 pint cakes (uncased). Some do better, some worse. I was just guessing at the amount of substrate in the bags as about 3 halfpints worth. But it seems to produce about the same as 3 halfpints.
As far as injection amounts per bag. You could probably inject just a few drops and have success, depending on the quality of the syringe. It would add several days, perhaps a week or more to full colonization, but it would be more cost effective if you are not in a rush. The bags are mixable, so at the first sign of mycelium a quick mixing of the bag will distribute the colonized areas inside the bag for quick colonization.

I put in 4cc in my bag that produced 3 ounces wet, .3 ounces dry. I did get a second flush of a few mushrooms, but honestly, I did not keep the bag in good condition as I moved on to 5 bags of Ecuadoreans. I'm a novice and me set up is not that good yet, howerver I'm a pretty decent gardener, so perhaps that has helped me. I'll let you know how the new bags go - see my new thread. I put the syringe in (2ccs each bag) on 1/28 and already have lots of white mold, as I like to call it, but one of the bags already has a lot of green growth in it somehow.
