Im new to this stuff, plz dont snub this thread if you know the answer.
anyways, Im growing mycelium on organic rye injected in four spots in a quart jar
and should i keep it in a place that allows light to hit it? 70 degrees right?
im new man, dont laugh. continuing......
should i shake it every 3 or four days ;like they say to? does it really speed up
colonization? i just want the mycelium for ingestion, not fruiting. anyway is this the best way to get the most mycelium?

does anyone else find this lazy? you can grow (12) 1 quart jars in a month, of mycelium and end up with a level 5 trip from one full jar. gimme a break, this is so easy and has almost a 99% success rate. you guys spend months on mushrooms and the mycelium is 90% of how strong the shrooms could be.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY MYCELIUM GROWING TEKS THAT BUILD MORE MASS?

I doubt if one of your jars will give you a level 5 trip.

You get the greatest yield from growing shrooms on the
cakes first and then extract the cakes when they are spent.

This may be speculation, but I have heard that mycelium does not contain much if any psylocibin before fruiting has taken place. Psylocibin may start being produced when the mushies are about to fruit. That is why people use spent cakes instead of fresh ones. I have never heard of someone having a hard trip off of non-fruited mycelium. Just my two cents. Please correct me if I am wrong.

i think supershroomer is right about using cakes that have already produced. when i first started, i took several cakes that wouldn't fruit and i didn't feel anything off of 3 1/2pint cakes. everyone kept saying it worked so well, so i tried it a second time and still felt nothing.
frankly, i wouldn't try it again since it's not a much longer wait to have actual fruits, but if you try it and don't feel anything, consider that possibility . . .

hmm, some people are considerate of my knowledge, others, not. anyways,
i have read on all sites, this one, PF, and SporeWorks and all say the same thing, you CAN get wasted off the premature fungus name mycelium......
all reports of mycelium trips that were unsuccessful were taken from people that didnt know what they were doing. this process IS succesful and I would like to hear some people reply with successful results using this method. mycelium must be caught right before pinning to be successfully psilocin containing.
please tell me about your mycelium trips!

Maybe you should move on to another drug, like speed or coke or something. One where you do it to get "wasted".
Man, how can people be that greedy and impatient to get a high? Sad... you could get two "level 5" trips off one jar, if you let it fruit.

Subseed, if you line the bottom of you terrarium with perlite and water then you don't need to spray at all. All you have to do is fan the terrarium once a day and you'll get fruits. I have school and work and all I do is take a minute or two before I goto school everyday and fan out my two terrariums. That's it. If you don't have time for that then where do you find the time to trip?

this is the only way i ever "grow" anything for use.
not because i am lazy but because growing actual fruitbodies is too much of a risk and quite frankly needs alot of attention.
my jars are literally kept underground and in 1 month after a honeywater injection they are plenty potent for me. they do need about a month to contain psilo.
do extract with the vit. C crystals though cause cranberry alone doesnt cut it. i am considering outdoor growing.... i just wont take the risk of growing anything in my home. im too high strung to trip comfortably with mushies in my house.
i need to be able to concentrate on the spiritual aspects of this ancient friend:)

The cranberry extraction rocks. I have done this myself simply cause it takes so little time.
You mentioned shaking. Its absolutly imperitive to shake the jars. If you dont your likly to end up with a mass of mycelium in the middle of your grain. When you see white in your jars, and then shake it, it will look like nothin was ever there. But its there trust me.
The cranberry works very good. I just wish I could find away to extract from brown rice cakes. they are much more potent.

Ok, enough spam. You must age the jars an additional 30 days after full colonization to make extraction or direct ingestion worthwhile. Psilocybin and psilocin production happens late in the life cycle, generally just before pinning. If you just wait until the jars are colonized, don't expect much. I am sure the timing of Psilocybin/cin production is strain/species related so you might have to test a few varieties to see what works best for you.

Subseed, just get a rubermaid container. you can either use the top that comes with them or you can just stretch plastic wrap over the top to make it fairly airtight. I'm not sure what a "nickel of shrooms is" but you can get about 5 dry grams from a half pint cake (PGF style). Which is very easy and will be well worth your time. You can fit 6 pgf cakes in a rubermaid terrarium with perlite. 5 dry grams per cake... 6 cakes... 30 dry grams of shrooms per terrarium sound good to you? Or if you really want to get funky you can try casing those cakes, then you've got yourself a nice sized batch of shrooms.

how can i get more mass of MYCELIUM in a jar? a diff method than rye berries?

4 ?pint jars = 1 quart jar.
that means if you do every thing like you so easily can, you can get ALOT of mushrooms from those quart jars of rye you have. a mass of mycelium in a quart jar IS a high mass of mycelium.
really man, its worth the initial effort. after that, all you have to do is do what juggles says...basically nothing!

If you used a smaller grain you'd get more mass than with a bigger one. Rye is rather large.
I'm not sure right now exactly what grain would be the best. Birdseed? Milet? Any wholesome type grain would work. Go to the health food store, check it out...

I tried the Mycelium "high", and did it by growing the Mycelium on millet (with no birdkote) in one quart jars, then excracting it by using someones juice tek. I thought I should check this out. I got a small trip out of it, but nothing like downing a few baby caps. My advice... if you go through all of the trouble to get to the final stages, then why not just pin, plump, and pick?
