Worldwide mushroom habitat stats?
    #533747 - 01/28/02 07:38 AM (21 years, 10 months ago)

Does anyone know of a website containing information on the various mushrooms of the world (or the caribbean in particular ?). Reason being, I was told by a friend that 'small brown' mushrooms grow on cow dung and I quote: 'people cut them up, smoke them and get fucked up' (assuming fucked up = high). All of the indentification guides I've seen so far are basically for the US and Europe, so short of actually trying these 'shrooms myself (which I probably will do anyway) I'll have no other way of telling their species.

Are there any other species of mushrooms that have psychoactive effects other than the Psilocybe and Panaeolus variety?

There are currently more than 186 mushrooms containing psilocybine worldwide.

They belong to 13 families of musrhooms.

An no you cannot get high smoking shrooms.

Furthermore, Dung inhabiting shrooms are a minority in the world of psilocybine. 13 Copelandias, two stropharia (P. cubensis and P. subcubensis, and several Panaeolus. The majority of shrooms grow in woodchips, mulch and grassy areas of manured soil or pasturelands.

Have a shroomy day,

mj
