organic rye, flakes? berries?

I have read several teks using quart jars and organic rye. The problem is when I go to the health food store I can only find rye berries and flakes. I am not sure if I should use the berries which look a lot closer to the pictures that I have seen, or if I to use the flakes. I have been to every store in my town. Do I have to order it?
I know this might sound stupid, but I would appreciate it if someone could help me out. Thanks for your time.

You want Organic Rye Berries, not rolled rye flakes!
100 grams rye
110-120ml h20
soak for 12 hours
then pc for 1 hour
let cool
inoc. with spores or culture

exactly what Azurepower said or i have found organic wheat berries to be even cheaper. peas
